We have listed down the following as some of the frequently asked questions posed by participants when applying for Malaysia My Second Home programme. we hope the subsequent answers could help you through your queries and initial concerns and provide an initial picture of what you can expect here as an applicant-resident of the programme.

Q : Can I withdraw my fixed deposit any time during my stay in Malaysia?
A : Only a portion of the principal amount's fixed deposit can be withdrawn after one year from the date of your Malaysia My Second Home stamp, with terms and conditions applied. The fixed deposit interest can be withdrawn as per what has been agreed upon the opening of your account with the respective bank. 

Q : Can I place the fixed deposit in a Malaysian bank located in my country?
A : No. The fixed deposit account must be opened in any Malaysian bank or financial institution located in Malaysia only.

Q : Can the purchase of a house in Malaysia which is valued at more than RM500,000.00 be considered as having fulfilled the financial criteria for this programme?
A : No. Participants are required to fulfil the requirement by cash in bank.

Q : Am I allowed withdrawing my fixed deposit for a few months and then topped it back later?
A : No. You not allow to withdraw your fixed deposit without getting approval from MM2H Department.

Q : When can I withdraw my fixed deposit?
A : After a period of one year, the participant may withdraw his/her fixed deposit for approved expenses relating to house purchase, education for children in Malaysia and medical purposes OR when he/she decides to terminate his/her stay in Malaysia by first informing the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia of his/her intention at Malaysia My Second Home Centre. Participants can apply to withdraw part of their fixed deposit for emergency cases such as medical purposes, etc. with prior approval of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia.
Q : Must my children apply student pass again?
A : No, children below age 21 can join as dependents under the Malaysia My Second Home programe. All international schools allow for continued studies without the need to further apply for a student pass. However, certain colleges and universities would require for them to use a student pass in order to pursue their tertiary studies.

Q : Will my home country properties value is consider fulfilled financial requirement?
A : No. This is because the Malaysia My Second Home department require participants to provide proof of liquid assets as your financial stability. However, you are encouraged to submit those property details to strengthen your application approval.

Q : How long must I own the car’s prior I can import in? When can I import in?
A : You must own the car’s at least 6 months before you can import in. You only can import in your car’s after your MM2H visa stamped and must be within 6 months. Alternatively you can choose to purchase locally with 1 year from your MM2H visa stamped.

Q : Is MM2H allowed me to run my own business?
A : Yes, the programme allows you to open your own business, though registration of the company is subjected to domestic regulations and policies.

Q : Is MM2H visa useful for me to apply other country visit visa?
A : Yes, you can apply for visit visas to other countries through the respective embassies here in Malaysia.

Q : My maid is sick now can I apply a new maid from my own country again?
A : Yes, you can.

Q : Suppose my country allowed me to own two nationalities, can I choose either one to apply?
A :

Yes, you are free to choose either one (that you wish to use) so as long as you have proper documentation as proof.
