Mont Kiara
Mention the neighbourhood of Mont Kiara and the name immediately conjures several adjectives or elements to mind: affluence, upper-class and a healthy expatriate population.
Located just next to Desa Sri Hartamas, the township has successfully attracted well-heeled Malaysians as well as expats, who hail from over 30 different countries, to stay in the high-rises that make up this area.
Condominiums aside, Mont Kiara thrives from the myriad of commercial businesses, retail outlets, shopping malls and even its own flea bazaars and night market.
Several schools, including international schools, cater to the educational needs of children - in every sense, it's a self-contained township without having to travel far to get to schools.
Development here is marked by its good connectivity to a network of highways and expressways that enables one to quickly reach Petaling Jaya or Kuala Lumpur. The MRT, once ready, will have stops within this enclave, a further testament to the rapid growth this neighbourhood is experiencing.
Despite its relative urban-like environment from the constant flow of traffic and buzz of people, Mont Kiara manages to still retain a residential charm with that dose of grandeur, thanks to the niche market that this area was first conceptualised and developed for.
Jalan Ampang
Anyone who has been to Kuala Lumpur would have definitely drove or walked past Jalan Ampang, one of the major thoroughfares that teems with a number of embassies, offices, important towers and landmarks, and not forgetting, the ever popular Petronas Twin Towers.
Jalan Ampang is part of the KLCC enclave, and an old road in fact, given the early mansions and buildings that lined it; they have since been converted into embassies, consulates, and restaurants, among others. Other occupants here include hotels and shopping malls.
Though reputed as a green and shady stretch, it is often overshadowed by today's non-stop traffic as vehicles ply the route to get into Ampang town, or offshoot roads that leads into the various buildings, or simply any of the offices or towers.
